RUSSIA - Alfa Bank and DAE presented the largest video mapping projection attempted in history.

September 4th, 2011 - DAE transformed the 25,500sqm surface of Moscow State University into a 3D canvas, using video-mapping technology to create an audiovisual journey through Russia’s past, present and future. Setting a Guinness World Record, the show integrated 4D elements such as live performance, scenic and special effects into the 3D video-mapping.

"We were incredibly honoured when Alfa Bank asked us to bring our signature style to Moscow for its Federal City Day," said CEO of DAE, David Atkins. "It was only fitting to pull out all stops to stage the largest video mapping ever attempted on a building and set a Guinness World Record in the process."

The show combined 3D and 4D elements to create the first show of its kind: French free-climber Alain Robert (the French Spiderman) scaled the surface; Russian opera diva Anna Polovinkina sang from the Prince Igor Suite; more than 5,000 condensed explosive charges and fireworks effects lit up the night sky and 50,000 balloons were released to celebrate Moscow’s 864th birthday.

It took more than 1,000 crew, 200 trucks of equipment, 81 video projectors, 2,200 cubic metres of purpose-built steel structures, a million watts of sound and 40 massive searchlights to deliver the 4D show. The 30-minute show was watched live by 300,000 people, and culminated in a square-wide celebration with musical group B2.

DAE has offices in Sydney, London, Vancouver and Hong Kong and created and produced the Opening Ceremony of World Expo 2010 Shanghai China, the ceremonies of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games, the Doha 2006 Asian Games and the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, as well as the Handover Ceremony of the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games.
