Diretto da Liz Unna, il filmato non è solo un breve profilo di Peter Brookes, il vignettista politico del Times dal 1992, ma soprattutto un commento sull’arte, la forza e la vitale necessità del vignettista nella “conversazione politica” del paese. “We are very fortunate in this country in that since 1695 we more or less had an uninterrupted run of visual satire, without governments interfering too much. Which means that we’ve actually become part of the political conversation. In other countries they lock cartoonists up. But in this country they buy the original and hang it in their toilet and say ‘It’s all just jolly good fun, isn’t it!’ Whereas in fact it’s assassination without the blood.” (Martin Rowson, vignettista del Guardian)
Sempre realizzate dando molto spazio agli intervistati, tutte le puntate di Unquiet - dieci ad oggi dallo scorso giugno - hanno come caratteristica prevalente la perspicacia dei protagonisti. “I think Peter’s main aim is to puncture the hubris and the hypocrisy that politicians at Westminster suffer from....That single cell drawing is repeated day after day after day. And I think that has a more lasting effect on the public persona of that person than the written word.” (Tim Benson, scrittore)
Peter Brookes stesso parla del suo approccio al lavoro, offrendo involontariamente conforto a tutti i creativi col fiato sul collo. “I quite often get ideas by just daydreaming out of the window. It’s part of that process of letting your mind wander.” E fa un’osservazione particolarmente rilevante: "You don’t wish appallingness upon people. But that’s very good for my kind. Because we kind of thrive on it. But, my God, Berlusconi screwed Italy. And this is what I show."
