Lucerne Tourism to provide hotel guests with free public transport tickets

Lucerne wants to offer their guests a sustainable added value. This should make it possible for them to transport themselves within the city in a more environmentally friendly and convenient way. All guests staying at Lucerne hotels will receive a free ticket for public transport. The ticket will enable free travel by bus and train within the tariff zone 10 in the 2nd class.

The new Lucerne Hotel ticket will be launched by the tourist board Lucerne Tourism and the Passepartout fare network. It will be financed from taxes paid by every guest in addition to the nightly tariff. The ticket is therefore financed by the guests themselves. Each guest will receive his or her personal, non-transferable ticket upon check-in at hotels.

According to a press release by Lucerne Tourism, other destinations in Switzerland already offer free public transport tickets. Generally, it is viewed by the guests and service partners as a successful step.

In addition to holiday guests, Lucerne is planning to offer free tickets to participants of tourism congresses and meetings in the future. The aim is to improve the position of the city not only as a holiday destination, but also as a venue for meetings and incentives for Swiss and international operators.
