The Regnum Carya Golf & Spa Resort of Belek, Antalya, hosts the Turkish Airlines Open Golf Tournament

It’s the second time in one year that this wonderful venue steps into the international limelight, twelve months after hosting the G-20 World Summit.

The Turkish Airlines Open Golf Tournament, in which world renowned golfers such as Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, Henrik Stenson, Martin Kaymer and Victor Dubuisson have competed in previous years, will take place at the prestigious Carya Golf Club, the golf club of Regnum Carya Golf & Spa Resort, in Belek (Antalya), Turkey, from Thursday, November 3, to Sunday, November 6.

With its $7 million purse and 78 of the finest golfers in the world in competition, the Turkish Airlines Open Golf Tournament is one of the three leading tournaments in Europe.

It’s the second time in less than one year that this huge and wonderful venue steps into the international limelight, after hosting the G-20 World Summit in November 2015.

Last time it was the main room of the Conference Centre to get involved - a 2,100 - square-metre pillar-less ballroom comprised in a world-class 7,500-square-metre convention centre, alongside 13 meeting halls with inspiring natural light.

And now it’s the Championship Golf Course at Carya Golf Club’s turn, designed by Thomson Perrett & Lobb Golf Course Architects, and founded by five-time British Open winner Peter Thompson. Named one of the best 100 golf clubs in the world by several reputable golf publications, Carya Golf Club is among only a few golf clubs in Turkey that can host 18-hole international tournaments. Carya Golf Club has also become the first floodlit golf club in Turkey, thus making players able to enjoy a round of golf day or night.

«This is another chance to help golf develop in our country and for our people to show how much they care - says Akif Çağatay Kılıç, Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Turkey -. Turkey’s love of sport only continues to grow and this is due to the high-quality facilities on offer, our exceptional infrastructure and the impact of previous international sporting events».

«So far we have already helped to put Victor Dubuisson, winner for the second time in three years last year, and Brooks Koepka on the road to golfing stardom and we are excited to discover who will emerge from this star-studded field to become our fourth champion - comments Ahmet Ağaoğlu, President of Turkish Golf Federation -. We are proud to welcome four-time major winner Rory McIlroy and reigning Masters champion Danny Willett to Turkey. That illustrious duo and a field packed with talent shows just how highly this tournament is now regarded around the globe».

«After the massive success of the last three tournaments we are glad to have our name associated with what we consider to be one of the world’s greatest tournaments - states M. İlker Aycı, Chairman of the board and the Executive Committee of Turkish Airlines -. In addition to its countless sites and attractions that draw millions of visitors every year, Turkey now enjoys a reputation as the destination of choice for golf lovers and we know that people travelling here for the first time will come back time and again».

«Now in its fourth year on the European Tour - says Keith Pelley, European Tour ceo - the Turkish Airlines Open continues to go from strength to strength and once again it takes pride of place on our calendar as the first event in our prestigious Final Series».
