I cinecast (parente cinematografico del termine broadcast) del National Theatre (UK) arrivano in 25 paesi. Lanciato nel 2009 con una produzione di Phèdre (Jean Racine, 1677), con Helen Mirren, nota per il ruolo eponimo nel film The Queen (Stephen Frears, 2006), NT Live è un’iniziativa digitale che è diventato player mondiale per il teatro britannico. Attualmente 700 cinema in 25 paesi ospitano le performance in diretta satellitare. Nella stagione teatrale 2012/2013, 500.000 spettatori hanno assistito a NT Live mentre 750.000 era l’audience nei propri teatri (Olivier, Lyttleton, Cottesloe) al South Bank a Londra.
