La sesta puntata di STELLA ARTOIS Perfectionists at the World’s Greatest Events, con la creatività di Mother London, presenta Craig Gilholm, il sandman che disegna i bunker al Royal Liverpool Golf Club, casa di The Open Championship.
Con la regia misurata di Edward Housden, il filmato racconta dell'inquietante guardiano dei green del campo da golf di Hoylake, ed i suoi tanto diabolici quanto difficili bunkers che sfidano i migliori golfisti del mondo. ‘For him, their failure is his triumph.’ Il suo nuovo sublime bunker, ‘Medusa’, creato per incutere terrore nel campione dell’Open del 2006 (Tiger Woods), è paragonato alla pianta carnivora dionaea muscipula, meglio conosciuta come la Venus Flytrap, una bellezza ingannevole della natura. La Sarabande in re minore di Handel - il tema principale di Barry Lyndon (Stanley Kubrick, 1975) - avvolge la storia con un’elegante malevolenza ed accompagna un voice over eloquente in contenuto e tono.

The finest traps on earth are utterly beautiful. And yet completely deceiving. Just like his bunkers. His sand traps are there for all to see. And avoid at their will. But still they come. For him, their failure is his triumph. It’s the look in their eyes when they know all is lost that keeps him going. The 2006 champion avoided his traps. That displeased him. Since then, he’s been plotting his revenge. It’s called ‘Medusa’. All that land in her turn to stone. Like history’s infamous sand traps, coffins, principals’ nose and hell. His bunker will be the ultimate nemesis at this year’s Open.
“He’s stuck in the sand. How’s he going to negotiate this trap? Oh, dear! Honestly, Jim, you wouldn’t invite the man behind this bunker to dinner!”
