STORYTELLING FILMGOOD: PEDAGOGIUM, i tatuaggi parlano nello spot di Isobar Poland

Freedom Tattoos è un progetto per trasformare i tatuaggi amatoriali e grezzi fatti in prigione e nei centri giovanili di detenzione, in tatuaggi professionali artistici. E’ una fondazione gestita da Pedagogium, The College of Social Sciences a Varsavia. Il filmato, però, concepito dall’agenzia Isobar Poland (Warsaw), è molto di più di un semplice appello per fondi. E’ una metafora toccante e ispiratrice per la riabilitazione degli ex-detenuti.
I tatuaggi originali - crudi, dark e vendicativi - rappresentano il danno che la detenzione fa all’anima e allo spirito di un essere umano. Il passato è indelebile e non può essere cambiato, ma la trasformazione dei tatuaggi fatti prigione dimostra un passo verso il futuro e una nuova libertà. La vita di un ex-detenuto sta nel costruire sul suo talento e le sue passioni. “If they decided to get tattoos, then it means they wanted to express something. We help them express themselves better.” Girato e montato con sensibilità da Marcin Filipowicz, il filmato racconta le esperienze di due ex-detenute e comunica attraverso sguardi e lacrime di gioia la scoperta della loro bellezza interiore.

“For 12 years I haven’t looked at my arms. I just don’t look at myself in the mirror. It’s like I don’t have a part of myself.”
“I got my tattoo 8 years ago at a juvenile detention centre. Now I want to do this for my children, because I love them. It’s simple.”
“Prison tattoos are made with improvised equipment assembled at the facility. Removing them is hard and leaves visible scars. They stigmatize and discourage potential employers. At Pedagogium we teach that social rehabilitation is not about erasing the past. But rather about building on it based on one’s talents and passions. Sometimes the slightest change in one’s life can bring the best results. If they decided to get tattoos, then it means they wanted to express something. We help them express themselves better. We’ve launched a special program in which we cover their prison tattoos with new ones. Better looking and better perceived by society.”

“Now I can discover a part of myself again. I am a woman. Now I can take another step. And this is fantastic because I don’t have to be locked up anymore in that grey world that held me back.”
“Now, everything is different. And when the tattoo was healing, my son would come to me with an ointment to put on my wounds. This program gave me a great chance. A chance to start a new life.
